Community Involvement

Participated in the Town of Weddington’s Easter
Egg Hunt
Community Involvement

Operated our annual Christmas tree lot at the
station, selling over 120 trees to the local
community
Community Involvement



Collected items for the “Holiday Food & Toy Drive”
and the “Union County Coats Drive” to help the
underprivileged
Sent out a Holiday newsletter to the members of our
local community
Hosted a successful Community Blood Bank drive,
taking in 19 units of blood from 23 donors

Installed a new “station alert system”
To improve our response times, our members
created a Street Guide listing detailed directions to
all streets within our coverage area

Achieved North Carolina Medium Rescue
Certification for Rescue 32
Approved for membership in the North Carolina
Association of Rescue and Emergency Medical
Services
Major Improvements


Issued each member of the department a new
@providencevfd.com email address to enhance
internal communication
Replaced foam on all Providence units with a
cutting-edge encapsulator fire suppression agent
known as “F-500”
Training

Our members accumulated an impressive 2,378.75 hours of
fire training between July 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012
 Training exercises included a live burn simulation hosted by
Waxhaw Volunteer Fire Dept. earlier this year
Training

In addition to the in-house training provided by the
department, many of our members obtained state
certifications at local colleges
 Nearly
10 members obtained either their Firefighter I
and/or their Firefighter II certification(s) during the
2011-2012 fiscal year
Looking Towards the Future


Providence VFD is grateful for the community’s
support and we look forward to continuing a strong
relationship with the Town of Weddington and local
citizens
Our department prides itself on providing superior
fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical
services to the local community
