The lack of incentives and rewards for active
researchers;
 Low faculty salaries
 Low capacity of staff to attract research grants
 No pre- and post-award grant and contracts
administration;
Poor institutional infrastructure for research;
 Uncertainties with research funding;
 Weak research capacity
 Limited research out put

Objective: To engender interest and building
research capacity of medical graduates
Strategy: We are organizing research training
for medical students through mentored
projects that will be undertaken anytime
during year 5 to 6 of their training
Objective: This has been proposed as research
capacity building and retention strategy for
residents and junior faculties.
Strategy: We are organizing series of research
training programs for residents, doctoral

◦ On line CITI course
◦ Video produced on RCR with jointly with a NIH grant
supplement
◦ The training programs are conducted as short term
ranging from 24 to 30 hours of intensive workshop
over 3 days period on each occasion
◦ Course materials available in hard copy, CD and
MEPIN webpage

Objective: Research capacity development of
junior Faculty members and post graduate
students in our medical schools will help to
motivate and development interest in
academia
Strategy: MEPIN is engaging junior Faculties
and post graduate students in series of
