Development of Internet2 in Mexico
2011
I.- Strategy for deploying Internet 2 in
Mexico
2

Mexican Universities, following the example of
other countries, needed a solution that would
permit them to connect amongst themselves
and with foreign universities with greater
bandwidth at reasonable costs.
3

The strategy for the development of Internet 2
in Mexico was based upon the willingness of
seven leading Universities to bear the cost of
the installation of a high speed backbone, on a
pro-rata basis
4
On April 8th, 1999 a non-profit private corporation was
formed to implement and fund the network

Corporación Universitaria para el
Desarrollo de Internet, A.C.
5

CUDI’S members should be committed to the
development, use and support of advanced
networks and wide band connectivity
applications for education and research
