Working after Studying for International
Students
International students who require a visa (entry clearance) to come to the UK, who
have studied in the UK and graduate with an undergraduate degree, a postgraduate
certificate or diploma, a Master's degree or PhD can apply to the Post-Study Work
Scheme, which is one of the categories under Tier 1 of the UK Government's Point
Based Systems of immigration control. It allows to apply for a 24-month extension of
the visa in order to find work, within a 12-month period of the date of graduation. It is
not necessary to have an offer of a job in order to apply. This Post-Study Work Scheme
replaces the Fresh Talent Working in Scotland Scheme and the International Graduate
Scheme.
Applications forms for the scheme are available from the Home Office - UK Border
Agency:

Clyde Waterfront Regeneration
This is Scotland’s single most significant urban renewal project and development
opportunity with around £5 - 6bn of public and private sector investment, which will
transform 20km of the river Clyde from Glasgow city centre to Dumbarton.
“I am interested in Urban Renewal and Glasgow offers that as a ‘Living Laboratory’
as much as any city. The east end of Glasgow, in particular, is undergoing enormous
amount of regeneration and it would behoove me to witness the transformation first
hand.” (Application from international student, March 2009.)
