Financial
partnerships
• IFAD and Belgium Survival Funds (BSF) are
working together since 1984.
• BSF has increased the value of IFAD’s
investment by addressing the most basic needs
of poor people: family nutrition and health
(280M$).

• IFAD is currently defining its operational strategy
on Water for Rural Livelihoods.
• Focus on poor rural peoples’ demand and
institutions for water to serve their food, feed,
and fibre production – including livestock, fully
acknowledges their interaction with the
environmental use of water, and hinges on basic
needs and rights to water for domestic purposes,
nutrition and health (Pro-poor Rural Water and
Health Sanitation/ppRWHS).
• Bring closer collaboration between the Water
for Food and WASH
