Project Lead The Way (PLTW):
PLTW is a program that applies engineering,
science, math, and technology through a projectbased, hands-on approach to solve complex,
open-ended problems in a real-world context.
Students focus on the process of defining and
solving a problem, not on getting the “right”
answer. They learn how to apply STEM
knowledge, skills, and habits of mind to make the
world a better place through innovation.
PLTW

Courses available through PLTW (listed
under Tech Ed):
Intro to Engineering & Design (IED)
 Principles of Engineering (POE) (1 credit
science elective)
 Digital Electronics (DE)
 Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) (1
credit math elective)

Credit Requirement
Seniors must enroll in at least 6
classes/6 credits
 If you choose to enroll in 6 classes
instead of 7, you must select Senior
Early Release as your 7th class

Lab Assistants

Seniors may select a lab assistant in
place of one class. This entails working
individually as a teacher’s aide. Students
must seek these placements out on their
own. Lab assistant forms will be
available later in the spring. You may
write “lab assistant” on your scheduling
sheet with teacher’s name if you know
you’re going to add that to your schedule.
IMPORTANT
See your counselor if you’d like help in
selecting classes for next year.
 Make sure you register for required
classes if you failed any this year or last
year.
 You will have the opportunity to input
your selections into the computer during
study hall on Jan. 28 & Feb. 2. You
must turn in your course selection sheet
at that time.


You may also enter your selections into
Skyward at any time on your own.
Instructions will be on the school’s
website. But please make sure to turn
your course selection sheet in to the
guidance office, or turn it in with the
others on the day your study hall inputs
their selections.
