13 PT. KOPEX MINING CONTRACTORS Introduction to Kopex Mining Contractors (KMC) Part of the Kopex Group, PT. Kopex Mining Contractors (KMC), was established as an Indonesian registered company in 2008.
PT KMC is: A local Indonesian company employing Expatriate and Indonesian mining staff working in Asia Pacific region.
Personnel of PT KMC has: Many experienced consultants in geological works and Feasibility studies focusing for investors in Indonesia in particular where the potential for underground mining is recognised.
PT KMC major activity to date: Worked an underground operation located in Kalimantan and has hence gained extensive experience in the local underground mining conditions. Primarily, PT KMC is actively seeking to invest and expand underground coal mining operations in Indonesia.
PT. KOPEX MINING CONTRACTORS Mining Services:
• Mining Contracting – provide all equipment and labour for underground mine contracting works. Includes expatriate and local Indonesian personnel. • Consultancy Service & Underground Mine Planning – underground project feasibility studies, short term and long term mine planning and production scheduling etc.
• Development and implementation of safety and training systems for underground operations – critical in underground operations.

• Mining machinery and equipment – capable of providing, installing and operating all equipment for infrastructure and underground operations .

• Geology – full range of geological services by experienced geologists – initial exploration planning through to final resource/reserves estimates – open cut or underground.

• Pre Feasibility Studies – progress from outcomes of conceptual study – detailed design and plans based on exploration outcomes.
• Feasibility Studies – final assessment to 10% accuracy including detailed mine plan/design and full economic evaluation – GO or NO GO.

History (and safety records) have not been good in underground operations.
Lack of experienced personnel and equipment etc for underground mining locally.

Indominco Underground
KMC executed a trial UG mine for Indominco as mining contractor.
KMC supplied all equipment and labour as well as project and technical management.
The trial was completed successfully and underground mining techniques (“pillar extraction”) successfully implemented for first time in Indonesia.
An excellent safety record was maintained throughout.
The IMM underground project has already had a significant positive impact to mechanized underground coal mining knowledge in Indonesia.
Knowledge & experience gained will be taken forward to future underground projects & operations in Indonesia.

3 years operation as mining contractor 7500m of underground tunnel constructed Succsessfully tested exploitation using board & pillar method.
It has been demonstrated that the prevailing geological conditions in Indonesia (Kalimantan) can be safely handled using correct techniques and professional approach as adopted by KMC.
This alone is seen as a major step forward for underground coal mining in Indonesia.

KMC cooperating on initial feasibility work (conceptual study) with TCM. The study is to plan and design an underground operation for TCM.
