Planning and Consultation
• February 2011 - Planning started • 22 June 2011 – Draft plan circulated for consultation • June, July and August – On website – 3 open consultations in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh – 12 meetings with stakeholders and partners

....... the Power of Inclusion in Sport Inclusive Sport
is a commitment to offering ALL children, athletes and players with a disability, the opportunity to realise their full potential in physical activity including sport, by providing open, modified, parallel and discrete/separate sports options appropriate to their individual needs, abilities and environment. The Sports Inclusion Model (SIM) for physical activity, including sport, supports children, athletes and players of all levels of ability. Engagement and transition within the model will be by choice or as part of a planned programme of sports participation, training or competition.
Schools
Children and young people with a disability accessing
two
hours of quality PE plus out of school hours activity, weekly.
Clubs and Activity Sessions
Clubs and activity sessions that promote inclusive principles as the norm as opposed to the exception.
Coaches
Ensuring coaches are prepared, confident and competent to meet the needs of all participants including children, athletes and players with a disability.
Significant Organisations
Adopting policies and procedures that impact on delivery and ensure that children, athletes and players with a disability are considered and included.
SDS will work co-operatively to ensure that the principles of the Sports Inclusion Model are embedded in existing and future strategies and programmes.
