HOLSAN. An environmental engineering company founded on August the 4th,
1989, focused to providing solutions to the oil industry with ample experience with
the treatment of effluents and the handling and disposal of residues generated
during oil well drilling procedures.
In addition to the treatment of water-based
drilling effluents, HOLSAN also provides
biodegradation solutions for oil-based drilling
effluents as well as wastewater treatment
solutions.

Water can emerge from different well drilling
processes:
•Surface Water. This is collected through
open channels and directed to a grease trap.
Water coming frm work areas where there
may be a risk of spills or where equipment
and piping may be washed generally contains
solids, muds and oils. These are collected
through a perimetral channel connected to
the main oily water circuit at the installation.
•“Dewatering” Waters. These are a byproduct of the dehydration process
that the muds and sludges undergo. They have a high concentration of
suspended solids, dissolved solids as well as any chemicals used in their
treatment.

Given the pollution problems created
by drilling muds and effluents,
HOLSAN has developed high-efficiency
physico-chemical (dehydration) and
mechanical (sludge and drilling mud
dewatering
systems)
processes,
through which the water content of
these effluents is reduced. This also
stabilizes the organic load contained in
the sludges, making it possible to
dispose of them in a responsible
fashion,
thus
reducing
the
environmental impact associated with
these substances.

Vehicles that meet the highest standards of quality and safety are
available for the transportation of the different fluids related to the
oil industry (vacuum trucks). Covered Frac-tanks are available for
the storage of fluids.

Systems to treat wastewaters arising during the production phase of
an oil-well are also available. These systems effectively separate
hydrocarbons from water through a dissolved-air flotation (DAF)
process.

is a mixture of seed-based oils with water
and an emulsifier in concentrations as
high as 20% v/v.

We are capable of sampling and characterizing of
natural
water
sources
(rivers,
streams,
underground sources) to determine whether using
them as driking water sources is in fact feasible, as
per the regulations of Decree 475/98 and RAS
2000.
- We perform traceability studies for untreated
waters in order to determine the optimal doses of chemicals required to operate
potabilization plants.
- We repair, maintain and optimize drinking water plants.
-We supply the chemicals and equipment necessary for the succesful operation of
potabilization systems.
-We redesign, build and start-up compact and full-size treatment plants, both
conventional and non-conventional, or plants which have advanced treatmens

Daily monitoring is performed in order to
guarantee an optimal treatment process

applicable

A certified laboratory is available in order
to determine the parameters required by
operations in the field.
