Club based coach educators, facilitators and resources supporting coaches at grass roots level

Focus

•To understand the stages of development for a hockey player.

• To understand what coaches need to know to deliver effective programmes •provide coaches in clubs and schools with resources and tools.

• provide coach development opportunities to support all coaches •Provide tools and resources to develop club coach educators.

• Identify potential coach educators of the coaching strategy.

• Link with Regional Sports Trusts

Deliverables

•Improve connectedness between Hockey NZ, clubs and Regional Sports Trust to enhance regional coaching outcomes •To ensure that all coaching practices are athlete centred.

• To embed the athlete centred philosophy into the WHA coach development framework.

• To publish the WHA athlete pathway • To publish the HNZ and WHA Coach Development framework • To ensure the delivery of athlete and coach pathways at regional and club level • WHA CoachForce to provide support systems for all coaches.

• Ongoing coach development opportunities are provided • Develop tools and resources for club coach educators • Develop a coaching database collecting data on coach capability • Work with Sport Wgtn to assist club capability.

• Develop coaching page on WHA website • HNZ and WHA athlete Pathway and coach development framework communicated.

• Establish a coaching advisory group representative of all communities • Coaches have a clear understanding of what athlete centred is.

• Coaches are familiar with WHA athlete development curriculum
