Admitting a Patient - Defined
Admitting a Patient:
Admitting a patient in CROWNWeb involves facilities
doing one of the following:
•

Adding a new patient into CROWNWeb
and establishing scope over that patient.
Taking scope over an existing patient in
CROWNWeb.

Steps required to admit a NEW patient in CROWNWeb*:

Login to CROWNWeb – Click Patients Tab – Click Admit Patient link. (Slide
11 - view)
Enter the patient’s initial information on the Admit a Patient screen, noting
the Admit Reason as “New ESRD Patient” and then click Next. (Slide 12 view)
Enter the patient’s treatment information on the Admit a Patient – Add
Treatment Information screen, then click Next. (Slide 13 - view)
Complete the patient’s profile on the Add Patient Attributes screen, then click
Submit. (Slide 14 - view)
The View Patient Details – Submitted page displays to confirm the success
of the admit. (Slide 15 - view)

Admitting an Existing Patient – SUI
Steps required to admit an EXISTING patient in CROWNWeb*:

Login to CROWNWeb – Click Patients Tab – Click Admit Patient link. (Slide
16 - view)
Enter the patient’s initial information on the Admit a Patient screen, noting
the Admit Reason as “Transfer In” and then click Next. (Slide 17 - view)
Enter the patient’s treatment information on the Admit a Patient – Add
Treatment Information screen, then click Next. (Slide 18 - view)
CROWNWeb finds the patient as a Match. Click Submit to verify that this is
the patient and to admit the patient into the new facility. (Slide 19 - view)
The View Patient Details – Submitted page displays to confirm the success
of the admit. (Slide 20 - view)

Admitting Patients – EDI
The general process when admitting patients via EDI:

An DO authorized to use the EDI feature submits the data (entered by
facilities) to CROWNWeb. This includes newly added patients, patients that
may have transferred from another facility, etc.
CROWNWeb processes the data. It then:
• NEW PATIENTS - CROWNWeb creates a new patient record.
• EXISTING PATIENTS - CROWNWeb automatically discharges the
patient from his/her current facility, then admits the patient into the new
facility and updates treatment records.

CONFLICTS – CROWNWeb flags the record for attention
