for a new grant every 3 years.

General Eligibility Requirements:


U.S. citizenship
A current full-time teaching or administrative
position

Bachelor’s degree or higher

Three years of full-time teaching experience

Fluency in English
International Research and
Exchanges Board (IREX)
IREX is a private, nonprofit
organization dedicated to promoting
advanced field research and
professional training programs between
the United States and the countries of
Central and Eastern Europe, Russia,
Ukraine, Central Asia, the Caucasus,
Eurasia, China, and comparable
contiguous societies.
Short Term Faculty
Development Programs
CIEE
– Council on International Educational Exchange—provides 12 week intensive overseas programs for U.S. faculty and
administrators.

Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program –
Instructors/Administrators in the Humanities, World Languages
and Social Sciences with 3 years full-time experience in the
District can apply for a funded 4-6 week professional development
trip abroad.

Fulbright Senior Specialist
Program
Designed to provide short-term academic
opportunities (2 to 6 weeks) for U.S.
faculty and professionals.
Applications are accepted on a rolling
basis and peer review of applications is
conducted 8 times per year.
Fulbright Scholar-inResidence Program
Under the Scholar-in-Residence (SIR)
Program, interested institutions or
consortia submit proposals to invite
scholars to teach one or more courses and
to be in residence for a semester or an
academic year.
English Language Fellow Program
a Department of State program administered by
Georgetown University




MA in TEFL/TESOL or related field with
substantial post MA teacher/curriculum
development experience.
Senior Fellows apply before March 31 for
the following academic year.
Serve as teacher trainers, curriculum and
program developers, evaluations and
needs analyses.
Full living allowance, airfare and 35K
stipend

SCCD faculty organize study abroad trips to a variety of
destinations. If you are a faculty member and would like to
organize a study abroad trip for the SCCD, please contact
Andrea Insley, District Coordinator, International Programs
or call 206 587-3899 for details and a proposal packet.
Deadline is Nov 30 for activities the following summer.
