Chapter 6.4 Notes: Prove
Triangles Similar by AA
Goal: You will use the AA Similarity Postulate.
Triangle Similarity
• Postulate 22 Angle-Angle (AA) Similarity
Postulate:
If two angles of one triangle are congruent to two
angles of another triangle, then the two triangles are
similar.
Ex.1: Determine whether the triangles are similar. If
they are, write a similarity statement. Explain your
reasoning.
Ex.2: Show that the two triangles are similar.
a. ∆ABE and ∆ACD
b. ∆SVR and ∆UVT
Ex.3: Show that the triangles are similar. Write a
similarity statement.
a. ∆FGH and ∆RQS
b. ∆CDF and ∆DEF
Ex.4:
Ex.5: A school building casts a shadow that is 26 feet
long. At the same time a student standing nearby,
who is 71 inches tall, casts a shadow that is 48
inches long. How tall is the building to the nearest
foot?
