Appliance Card Assignment
• The intent of this document is to provide internal
organizations a clear understanding of where
specific adapter cards are to be placed within
Unitends appliances.
• It is targeted at Development, Manufacturing,
Support, Quality Assurance and Quoting
• It is expected that the functional leaders make
sure that anyone configuring appliances have
access to this document or have been trained to
know.
• All discrepancies or inconsistencies need to be
brought to the attention of George Eisenhower
What Adapters are supported?
• Controller Description and link to (Pricelist Item#) format
• Where supported only one NIC can be added as an option (Fiber, CX4, SFP+ or 4 port)
• Where supported, only the SAS or the LVD SCSI controller can be selected, not both
What is the correct slot assignment?
• The Recovery-612 does not support any additional adapters
• All Recovery-612’s are configured in Manufacturing to have a single eSATA port
• For Archiving, Customer’s may opt to connect to the single bay docking station
Orderable as ESATAEHD
• If Customer orders a Recovery-Archive (RXDA) with the R612, only 1 of the 4 available
drive bays will be accessible
What is the correct slot assignment?
• The Recovery-712 is configured in Manufacturing to have a single eSATA port.
• For Archiving, Customer’s may opt to connect to the single bay docking station
Orderable as ESATAEHD
• If Customer wishes to access more than 1 drive bay, the factory default (single port
eSATA card) is replaced with the 4 port eSATA. (ADA-4ESATA) must be ordered and
if the customer does not already have a Recovery-Archive, (RXDA) must be ordered.
• See Slide 3 for other adapter configuration rules

eSATA card) is replaced with the 4 port eSATA. (ADA-4ESATA) must be ordered and
if the customer does not already have a Recovery-Archive, (RXDA) must be ordered.
• The Recovery-812/713/813 may use one additional Add-on Adapter in the PCI-e 8x slot

• The Recovery-722/822/823 is configured in Manufacturing to have a single eSATA port.
• For Archiving, Customer’s may opt to connect to the single bay docking station
Orderable as ESATAEHD, however for 2U sized appliances, a 4 port eSATA solution is
recommended. If desired, a 4 port eSATA solution(ADA-2x2ESATA) and
Recovery-Archive(RXDA) must be ordered.

recommended. If desired, a 4 port eSATA adapter (ADA-4ESATA) and
Recovery-Archive(RXDA) must be ordered.
