GHHI Program Manager
Priority Children
Our goal is to eliminate childhood lead poisoning and
create healthy, green, and more efficiency housing.
Every child has the right to live in a Green, Healthy
and Safe Home.
• Green and Healthy Homes workers have increased
earnings
• Fewer days are missed from school or work because
of illness
• Less money is spent on doctor and emergency room
visits
• Less money is spent on heating and cooling if the
house is well-insulated against the outside weather
• Less money is spent on water if no water is being
wasted through leaks or dripping taps
• Increased property values for homeowners and
increased marketability for landlords
Flint Green and Healthy Homes Initiative was included
in the economic playbook presented to Governor
Snyder.
Project Description:
The Green and Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) is a public-private
partnership between the federal government, national and local
philanthropy, and the National Coalition to End Childhood Lead
Poisoning in 14 initial pilot cities. The priority is to transform unsafe
and dilapidated housing not only by effectively integrating and
coordinating several inter-related programs, but also by leverage
investments of federal, local, and philanthropic resources. The Flint
GHHI has over 40 local private, public, and nonprofit partners that
are committed to meeting and working towards a common purpose.

We believe that the Green and Healthy Homes
Initiative is an opportunity to improve our
communities and the lives of those living within them
by coordinating physical interventions to address
home based health and safety hazards, resulting in:
• Green and Healthy Homes workers have increased
earnings
• Fewer days are missed from school or work because
of illness
• Less money is spent on doctor and emergency room
visits
• Less money is spent on heating and cooling if the house is
well-insulated against the outside weather
• Less money is spent on water if no water is being wasted
through leaks or ripping taps
• Increased property values for homeowners, and increased
marketability for landlords
We acknowledge that we must work collaboratively and
in close partnership to advance this initiative on behalf
of the families we serve. Thus, we commit ourselves,
our organizations, and our resources to work in
partnership towards the goals and strategies set out in
this GHHI Compact, to adhere to GHHI standards,
practices, and principles, always recognizing and
respecting the diversity of interests and perspectives
that will inform and sustain our City of Flint/Genesee
County GHHI.
