 CEN/ISSS: since 1997, focal point for ICT issues within CEN
The mission of CEN/ISSS is to provide market players with a
comprehensive and integrated range of standardization-oriented services
and products, in order to contribute to the success of the Information
Society in Europe

To deal with European specifics in an inclusive manner
To do this in partnership at European level
To ensure a coherent approach vis-à-vis the global consortia and ISO, IEC,

CEN/ISSS (Information Society Standardization System
 CEN Workshop concept

Workshop proposers can be companies, associations, other WS, a CEN TC, etc.)

Open to all interested parties

A public process – Business plan on web, open for comments to all

A kick-off meeting is held, approves the Business plan

Results by consensus of the participants (optional “public enquiry” on web)

Public comment (now obligatory for “public interest” cases) – 60 days minimum on
the web, all comments are addressed

Technical specifications, guidance material, best practice information
 CEN Workshop Agreements (CWA)

Represent the Workshops’ main end-product

Not “formal standards” but CWAs appear in catalogues of CEN Member bodies

May afterwards be taken further in standards processes in CEN, ISO, UN-ECE

eBES Workshop - The e-business Board for European
Standardization
 The focal point within Europe for the standardization of
technologies to exchange electronic business data. WS/eBES
is the "European Entry point" for the UN/CEFACT electronic
business standardization process.

CWAs are published for the Cross industry invoice, remittance advice and ordering,
based on the approved UN/CEFACT Business Requirements Specifications
The e-Catalogue business requirements specification was finalised beginning of
May 2006, and forwarded to UN/CEFACT
In 2006 project teams will work on the scheduling, shipping cycle and Order status
and supply reporting to define the European cross industry business requirements
 EEG 5: Architecture, Engineering and Construction


CWAs are published for e-Tendering
In 2006 project teams will work on Schedule and Cost Performance Management,
and Contract Financial Execution

 UN/CEFACT TBG1 – TBG6 Joint project on electronic catalogues



Project proposal approved in 2004 by UN/CEFACT Forum
TBG1 mandated as leading TBG
TBG1 appointed CEN/ISSS to draft the first release of the Business Requirements
Specification
 EEG1 set up a project team call cCatalogue


Started end February 2005
Input from the CEN/ISSS workshop e-Catalogue, GS1, BME, PIDX
 Scope of the project




Present a common and complete solution to deliver product information mainly for
commercial application
Covering the needs of exchanges in order to create, update and manage
catalogues
Focus on the structural elements of catalogues
Maintain liaisons with international classification work groups in ISO, CEN and
other organizations.





BRS of the e-Catalogue finalized by CEN/ISSS eBES-EEG1 end of May
BRS is available at the eBES EEG1 website (c-Catalogue)
BRS made available to IDABC members
BRS provided to UN/CEFACT TBG1 and TBG6 for review and comment


Review period closing on the 1st of July
Final review and approval planned for the UN/CEFACT forum meeting in
New-Delhi
 Next steps at the UN/CEFACT forum




 Generic product description and classification

This project is aimed at diffusing the global common, interoperable
classification architecture defined under part 1 and having the main
existing classification schemas adopting it as well as converging towards
a common base.


CWA 3 – Results of development in harmonization of product classifications
and in multilingual electronic catalogues and their respective data modelling

eInvoicing Workshop – Interoperability of Electronic
Invoices in Europe
 2003: new mandate to CEN by the EU Commission based on the
conclusion of the report of the CEN Focus group following the Directive
2001/115
 Group of 50 companies and organisations from various sectors; Service
providers, Software vendors, Industry, Application providers, national
organisations and Tax authority (UK)
 Close cooperation with DG Taxud, UN/CEFACT project
 Final report to be delivered by mid 2006




EDI and Business practices after implementation of Directive 2001/115,
proposal to change the EDI recommendation of 1994, overview of the use
of codes and identifiers in stead of clear text in electronic invoices
Issues for using electronic signatures (company, verification, usage)
Archiving of electronic invoices and solutions
Modelling of electronic invoice processes
