T D C R in some words
In TDCR triple and double coincidences are measured and the
ratio of these coincidences is calculated. Triple coincidences are
much more effected by quench ( chemical and color) as double (
or “all”) coincidences.
The ratio of triple to double coincidences (all) is for pure betaemtting radionuclides directly proportional to the overall
efficiency. The proportional factor is 1 (+/- 15 %). This can be
proved by experimental results and mathematics.
Hence, in TDCR the quench level is - in difference to systems with
2 PM`s facing the sample with 180° - automatically included in the
ratio of the triple to double coincidences.
Measuring TDCR enables now the determination of activities for
pure beta-emitting radionuclides with high accuray. The level of
quench is inherent taken care by TDCR.
TDCR does not require an external source and does not require a
well known activity – therefore it is an “absolute” measurement.
