Defining the Dependent Variable
An admission method with a HES value of (“21”,
“22”,”23”,”24”,”25”,”27”,”28” or “29”) and a patient
classification of ordinary admission (“1”)
Admission Method codes 25, 27 and 29 are
specific to Wales (i.e., not used in England)
and contribute to the higher overall
emergency admission rates than we are used
to seeing in England.
