Intelligent Building Ranking System
Objectives
TF1 Chair: Tom Lohner – TENG Solutions
-To develop an evaluation and assessment protocol and a guide for
integrated and intelligent building technologies.
-To increase market penetrability and knowledge of intelligent
building technology with building owners, operators, appraisers,
designers and the real estate industry.
-To demonstrate value and provide guidance to the large building
sector.
-To develop a Building Intelligence Quotient (BIQ).
www.caba.org
BIQ - Next Steps
• BIQ Consortium selected through RFP.
• Cost $90,000. and BIQC expected to recoup
expenses.
• Obtain CABA Board approval of a contract with

Life-Cycle Costs Analysis Tool
History and Objectives
TF3 Chair – Thom Keel – Ph.D. Student - Georgia
Institute of Technology
 To develop a white paper on the “Life-Cycle Costs of Integrated Open Standards Based Building Technologies” as compared to
traditional stand-alone closed system buildings.
 To create a parametric model for both new and renovated
buildings.
 To allow analyze of individual building operating/ maintenance
costs & develop supporting documentation for each cost.
 To lend credibility to final net present value (NPV) comparisons in
buildings.
