Barrier Island Restoration
Project Scope
-Restore eastern shoreface of Cat Island
-Comprehensive Restoration of West and East Ship Islands, MS
-Fill Camille Cut, a 3.5 mile wide breach between the islands (Phase I and II)
-Restore the southern shoreface of East Ship Island, MS (Phase III)
-Install native dune vegetation and sand fencing on the newly placed sand (Phase IV)
-Pre-, During, and Post Construction Monitoring of shorebirds, Gulf sturgeon, submerged aquatic
vegetation, waves and currents, salinity, turbidity, shoreline response etc.
