RF Cycle Count
By MIS Department
What is RF?
• The RF (Radio Frequency) system is a
wireless network that links handheld
scanners (“guns”) with the AS/400 and
RLM
• Each Warehouse is equipped with RF
transmitters and guns that allow users to
scan various types of UPCs for receiving,
picking, packing, transferring and cycle
counting units and cartons.
What is Cycle Count?
• Cycle Count is a function performed to insure
that the Perpetual (book) inventory and the
Stock Locator inventory matches the actual
number of units on hand
• Cycle Count is done:
– At end of year for Physical Inventory and audit
purposes
– When a major discrepancy is noticed in a location
– When inventory is moved
– Periodically as a check on locations
