About the Presenters:

Leo Ross: Is Director Occupational Therapy QEII, and the Principal of UpSkill Rehab. He has more than 15 years of clinical experience, the majority being in adult rehabilitation, especially stroke and TBI. His interest areas include upper limb rehabilitation following ABI, evidence based practice and clinical research. He published a randomised controlled trial investigating intensity of upper limb retraining in 2009 and completed his Masters in Science of Rehab Medicine in 2010. He has presented his research at a number of national conferences and continues to pursue clinical research and training projects. Leo completed the University of Sydney Master Trainers Course in Electrical Stimulation in May 2011 and has taught a number of FES workshops in Qld • • • Claire Stewart: Is the Advanced Physiotherapist at Ipswich Hospital’s Acute Stroke and Rehabilitation Unit.

She has more than 10 years experience mainly in adult physical rehabilitation.

Claire completed the University of Sydney Master Trainers Course in Electrical Stimulation in May 2011 and has taught a number of FES workshops in Qld

Course Overview

(8:30-9:30) – Clinical indications and use of FES overview – Safety: contraindications, precautions, application – Applying FES in practice: Machine types, parameters, preparation, electrode placement, trouble shooting Introduction to training protocols: wrist and finger extension (9:30-10)
