“You Must Be Born
Again!”
John 3:1-5
The Man Who Came To Jesus

(John 3:1-2) Now there was a man of the
Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
This man came to Jesus by night and said to him,
"Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from
God; for no one can do these signs that you do,
unless God is with him." (RSV)
You Must be Born Again!



(John 3:3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I
say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the
kingdom of God. {again: or, from above} (KJV)
(John 3:3) Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you,
unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

(John 3:3) Jesus answered and said to him, `Verily, verily, I say
to thee, If any one may not be born from above, he is not able to
see the reign of God;' (YLT)
Be Born Again?
(John 3:4-5) Nicodemus said to him, "How can a
man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second
time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus
answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is
born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the
kingdom of God. (RSV)
Water & The Spirit



(Romans 6:1-4) What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin
that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin
still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been
baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were
buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ
was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might
walk in newness of life. (RSV)
(Titus 3:5) he saved us, not because of deeds done by us in
righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of
regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit, (RSV)
(Acts 2:38) And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every
one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins;
and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (RSV)
Be Born Again?
Have You Been Born Again?


(John 3:7) "Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must
be born again.' (NKJV)
(1 Peter 1:22-23) Since you have purified your souls in
obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the
brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
having been born again, not of corruptible seed but
incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and
abides forever, (NKJV)
