What is Sigma Sigma Phi?
•Osteopathic honor society
• Service fraternity
Our goals are to further the science of osteopathic medicine and
its standards of practice; to improve the scholastic standing
and to promote a higher degree of fellowship among its
students, to bring about a closer relation and understanding
between the student body and the officials and members of the
faculties of our college.

A message from our chapter President
Hello everyone, my name is Ian McDowell,
and I am the current president for Sigma
Sigma Phi Iota chapter at Michigan State
University, home of the mighty Spartans
First of all, my apologies for not being able
to attend the conference. I hope that this
presentation will show you all the great
things we are doing here in East Lansing,
MI. In this presentation, you will hopefully
gain insight on our goals as a chapter and
the impact we have made on our

Our Service to the Community
 Career Day at Dewitt Rich Middle School
 Make-a-Wish 300 mile bike for donations
 Motor City Pride Parade
 Detroit Youth Day
 Medical Mission Trips
 Greening of Detroit with Habitat for Humainity
 Soup Kitchens every Wednesday
Goals
 Continue to be an essential component in MSU’s College of
Osteopathic Medicine with our high scholastic
achievement program and dedication to service
 Promote the osteopathic philosophy at local high schools
and middle schools
 Promote osteopathic medicine globally through
participation with MSUCOM mission trips: Dominican
Republic, Egypt, Guatemala, and Costa Rica this past year,
and Brazil this winter
 By May 2013, more then 2000 hours of community service
will have been served by MSUCOM SSP members
