Transcript The Center For Data Insight

Vision
The scientific community is poised on the edge of a
new era with respect to data handling and analysis.
Over the last seven years, the Center for Data
Insight has offered leading edge data mining,
machine learning, and automated analysis
technologies to many clients in the business realm
to answer a wide range of questions. Now, as the
scientific community begins to embrace more fully
the same structured data storage technologies that
business has over the past ten years, they become
more able to utilize the CDI’s data analysis
capabilities.

Plan Of Action
• This cross-disciplinary integration is a
large undertaking so we will start small at
first
– Integrate data one piece at a time
– Over time, the amount of centralized data will
grow
• The first step will be to inventory all
existing datasets and all potential datasets
Conclusion
• The CDI is able to supply a very advanced skill set
to support research, development, and education
• The CDI brings to bear skills for developing
systems, technologies and methodologies for
integrated regional databases that contain data from
all disciplines
• The CDI can also lead or aid in the development of
new mechanisms for organizing, accessing and
analyzing scientific data. The results of such an
effort would provide a unique opportunity for crossdisciplinary research.
