Monitoring and Controlling
• Measuring the ongoing project activities (where
we are?)

project management plan (where we should be?)
• Identify corrective actions to address issues and
risks properly (How can we get on track again?)
• How these corrective actions could affect the
project?
• Project Maintenance

Earned Value Management
Methodology
• Measuring Project Performance and Progress
• Measurements of Cost, Schedule and Scope in Single
Integrated System
• Accurate Forecast for Problems
• Essential features of any EVM implementation include
– a project plan that identifies work to be accomplished,
– a valuation of planned work, called Planned Value (PV)
or Budgeted Cost of Work Scheduled (BCWS), and
– pre-defined “earning rules” (also called metrics) to
quantify the accomplishment of work, called Earned Value
(EV) or Budgeted Cost of Work Performed (BCWP).

Earned Value Management
Methodology
• Define the work – WBS
• Assign Value – PV
• Define EV
– As per each element of work
– 0/100; 50/50; 25/75; 20/80.
• Execute according to plan
