Presenting students with explicit guidance in identifying similarities and
differences enhances students’ understanding of ability to use knowledge
Students should be encouraged to personalize the teacher’s goals, adapting them to their personal needs and
desires. Students can effectively provide some of their own feedback. Non-authoritative feedback produces
significant gain.
Cooperative learning should be applied consistently and systematically, yet not
overused. Organizing groups based on ability should be done sparingly.
Cues, questions and advanced organizers should focus on what is important,
rather than what is unusual.
