Customary Units of length are Foot Inch Yard mile copyright@Ed2netLearning,Inc 4
Customary Units or Metric Units
Most Countries use the metric system of measurement. Example – cm, m, km, kg, g, L The United States uses the Customary Units of measurement. Example – feet, inch, yard, mile copyright@Ed2netLearning,Inc 5
Relation in Customary Units of length 1 foot = 12 inch (in) 1 yard = 36 inch = 3 feet 1 mile = 1,760 yards = 5,280 feet copyright@Ed2netLearning,Inc 6
Finding length using customary units Line up one end of the object to the “0” mark of the ruler.

Conversion of units
To convert larger unit to smaller, multiply with the conversion number.
