REQUIREMENTS

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
Art. 6 UNHCR-EC project contract:
“… Information given to the press, the
beneficiaries of an Action, all related publicity
material,
official
notices,
reports
and
publications, shall acknowledge that the Action
was carried out “with funding by the
European Union” and shall display in an
appropriate way the European logo (12
yellow stars on a blue background)
CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS

 Size and prominence of the EU logo
 Emblems and stickers on the equipment

UNHCR and project partners must
mark project sites, equipment,
publications and events financed or
partly financed by the EU with the EU
logo – COMPULSARY
This concerns all project partners:
international organisations,
contractors and implementing partners
Financial and Administrative
Framework Agreement (FAFA) 2003

Funding relation between the UN and the EC is
governed by FAFA
Art. 11&6 indicate that the UN should take all
measures to publicize funding or co-funding by the
EU
International organisations should be guided by the
EC visibility guidelines but have some space to
accommodate their own visibility requirements –
always in coordination with the EC Press Officer
UNHCR visibility requirements




UNHCR logo.
“The project is funded by the European
Commission” + “The project is implemented
by the UN Refugee Agency”.
Balanced references to the role of UNHCR in
the project.
Respect all UNHCR visibility requirements.
EU-UN COORDINATION


All communication and visibility activities
should be coordinated with the EC
Delegation.
Visibility activities should be documented and
details should be included in reporting
(copies of publications, press releases,
photos of posters, emblems, stickers,
commemorations plaques)

The EU flag – must be prominently displayed.
It is the main element of the European visual
identity.
 Pay attention to geometrical description, colour
and background.

EU” – in the operational/local language.
The EU logo should be displayed as
prominently as other partners’ logos.
