Symposium Details
Considered an Examination.
Required to be there from 9:00am to approx. 3pm both days
Three parallel sessions
Presentation to be 12 to 15 minutes each and 5 minute questions
Marking will be by: your supervisor + another academic
Feedback will be collected from students for evaluation of the presentation.
Students will be allocated to be the chair and timer in each session
Sponsors provide funding – discuss career possibilities

 Rule of thumb: 1 slide every 1 to 2 minutes
 Approximately 10 slides including beginning and end slides

What to put on your slides …
 Words and phases - not sentences
 No spelling mistakes
 Same frame size, font, and location
 Use bold or italic - not underline
 Images – where appropriate – but keep them simple
 In professional presentations limit the use of animation
 Make it easy to read – dark background with light text or light on dark is up to you
 Keep it uncluttered
