Kindergarten Orientation All incoming Kindergarteners will be assessed within the first weeks of school. These assessments focus on academic skills (letters/sounds, number sense, etc). The first two weeks of Kindergarten are planned/paced by the Kinder team of teachers. This allows for change if needed. Preppie Kindergarten assessments took place in the summer for families interested in this potential educational option. Testing: Age 5 from July 1 to December 2 or by parent request; Qualify age appropriate based on Gesell Readiness Test (kindergarten developmental screening) Opportunity to participate in a wide variety of interactive learning experiences to assist in the development of positive social/emotional skills Parent request for this program is required Focuses on PRE-READING that emphasizes: oral language development, phonological and phonemic awareness, vocabulary skill building, beginning phonics development and beginning writing practice September 2 – December 2 Full Day Kindergarten Dual Language Immersion/Language Enrichment Fallbrook Community Center (ASES) All subject areas are taught Academically rich environment All of our students can/will go to college . We are teaching to prepare your students for the future. Each class will adopt a 4 year university that your child will be introduced to. All classrooms have 8 student computers and one teacher technology work station. All students have access to a variety of computer programs. Lessons on use of the computer as a learning tool or resource are given. If your child purchases lunch we recommend you pay in advance on-line or drop a check in the office. Please take your child to the quad. Please have a transportation plan to share with the teacher at their table. If you are not able to accompany your child, please call the office or send a note with your child. Your child will not be released to anyone not listed/noted. Buses Pick up and drop in the front of the school No parent traffic is allowed. All visitors must sign in at the office and receive a name badge. Classroom visit/observations should be scheduled with administration and will last no more than 20 minutes. Morning procedures for drop off If you are waiting with your child in the quad, please exit the campus after the bell. Parents are not allowed in the lunch pavilion or the playground. All students arriving prior to 7:35 must report to the lunch pavilion. Kinders will be escorted to designated area. 7:35 K reports to small blacktop area All K students report to the quad for the first three days of school. After that, they are to report to the kinder playground. If you are waiting with your child in their designated morning zone, please exit the school campus at the warning bell. Pick Up Students must be picked up at the quad or cul-da-sac. If you arrive on campus prior to the dismissal bell, please check into the office. Volunteers Are Welcome & Needed Information regarding classroom volunteering will go home the first week of school. A PTA volunteer form will also be sent home. All volunteers working with students must have a current TB clearance. Please attempt to plan all appointments and trips outside of school time. If a student is absent, please call the attendance line (731-4222) or or send a note. Please send the following in a ziploc baggie with your child’s name on it: An additional pair of underwear Socks Shorts/Pants Electronic devices and toys are not allowed at school.
