Jean Lafitte and the Lost Treasure... A Google Earth Lesson Third Grade Social Studies GLE’s #4 & 5 By: Shannon L. Mocanu

A Louisiana Legend Some say that Jean Lafitte once fell in love with a beautiful LA woman named Sarah. To prove his undying love, he made up his mind to give Sarah the finest gift that any woman has ever been given- a gift box filled with the world’s finest jewels- diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and real gold!

As Jean Lafitte sailed down the Mississippi River to deliver the gift box to his sweetheart, his ship was captured and sunk by Indians. Many people believe that the treasure went down with the ship and is buried somewhere near the Mississippi river. If you can find the ship, you will likely find the treasure!
