CTMA Focus
CTMA Basics
 Cooperative agreement between NCMS &
OADUSD (MP&P)
 Requires 2:1 industry/government cost match
 DoD-wide; produces joint service results
 Requires commitment by at least two
services
 41 DoD organizations participate on
projects
 Provides an estimated ROI of 20 to 1
 Average technology transition is 18 months
to IOC and 24 months to benefit realization
• Transition commercially available
technology (TRL Level 6+) versus
inventing new technology
• Rapid and relevant response to
maintainers needs
• Provide Innovative industrial
capability
• Further maintenance effectiveness
and efficiency
• Enable expeditionary maintenance
• Outcome Focused:
 Transitioning from congressionally-directed
to individual service-funded program
• Reduce cost of sustaining weapons
systems
• Reduce repair cycle time
• Improve readiness and reliability

Improved Readiness and Reliability
▼ Automated Intensifier Measurement System
(AIMS) (TYAD, NSWC – Crane; Penn State EOC)
▼ Automated test equipment to test the
demilitarized image intensifier tubes returned
from the field.
▼ Performs all optical A-tests in approximately
10 minutes versus two hours manually
