What is P2R?

• • • • P2R stands for Preview, Read Activity, and Review Preview-to comprehend what you will be reading by reading subtitles Read Activity- in little sections understand what you are reading talk about it, right notes, or highlighting can be used here.

Review- understanding what you read when you are all done reading what ever you have to read.

Preview Preview is when you see some topics and titles and you are trying to figure what you are going to be reading about.

I use the strategy Preview by… • • • • • • I skim over reading I look at the pictures see what is happening I look at graphs to see the progress or decreasing over time I look at sub headings I write/draw extra details on the side to make the reading more clear to me I use the super heroes strategy to help me see what I need to comprehend Now to the SUPER HEROES

Quack the Duck • • I made Quack the Duck for Questioning With Quack I need to see and ask the questions that have that are going through my mind.

Lonnie the Lion • I used Lonnie the Lion for Literary Luminary

Iggy the Illustrator • You can make Iggy the Illustrator for Illustrating

Nector the Nerdy Connector • • Second I use Nector the Nerd for finding connections on what I am going to read (preview) then what I am finding then when I am reading (during) then I also use him when I’m done reading (review).

I made Nector the Nerdy Connector of Connecting

Reading Actively

Reading actively is when you are reading the story by sections and making notes so you can comprehend it whether it is five sentences or one paragraph.

Reading actively is… • • • • • • Super heroes- use them to get your strategies down Taking notes- having questions, or writing important things down Asking questions for understanding what a word means or what that sentence means Making connections- to make a connection with your reading you would have had to do that in the past or will be doing it in like a week or two Visualize- when you are reading you can either put little pictures on side of what you see in your head or you can make a movie in your head Learning styles- are when you have a certain way to help you learn like visualizing or connecting with the past

With these super heroes • • • I would use Quack for writing questions have when I am reading each sentence/ paragraph.

I would use Nector to make connections on what I am reading.

I would use Lonnie to understand words that I didn’t know by going and make a puzzle to figure definitions out or I could use him to research some words or if there are graphs and pictures when I am reading

Learning styles • Learning styles- are when you have a certain way to help you learn like visualizing or connecting with the past

How I Take Notes & Ask Questions • • •

Taking Notes

Write important words down to describe something Having questions about what you are reading Write what page something important is on or what page a picture or graph is on • •

Asking Questions

Jot down a question you have about what you are reading Or if you have a word you don’t understand

How I Make Connections & Visualizing • •

Make Connections

You make connections by something you are reading and something you have done in the past Like if I read a book about “a girl making pies with her grandma” I can connect with that because I make pies with my grandma • •

Visualizing

When I am reading and I visualize what I am reading I make a movie out of it if the book does not have pictures to go along with it Visualizing is all about you or I it is what we see in our head when we are reading our books

When using the Reading Strategies • • • Use your learning styles so you understand what you are reading in your own words.

Some of them could be kinesthetic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, and visual Some of mine are….

I am visual and interpersonal How does visual and interpersonal play apart in this presentation?

• • • • • • • • Visual Is me being able to see what I will be reading. Is me being able to see what I am reading right now Is me being able to see what I just got done reading Interpersonal Is me being able to help others get an idea on what they will read Is me being able to help other get an idea on what they are reading right now Is me being able to help others see what they just went over reading

I am kinesthetic and intrapersonal How does kinesthetic and intrapersonal play apart in this presentation?

• • • • • Kinesthetic I am able to do that action over what I just read You can form a play or script of what you just read Intrapersonal occurring within the individual mind or self

How I use the visual learning strategy in the P2R strategy?

• • • • • Draw pictures Use words to represent your picture that comes to mind Get pictures from online to get your picture Use stickers Use stamps

How I use the interpersonal learning strategy in the P2R strategy?

• • • Ask questions Talk out loud Form a group

Review

Reviewing is when you have read the whole thing and can make a small summary of what you just read.

With these super heroes I… • • • • • When I am reviewing I would use all of these super heroes I would use Quack to see that now that I have read everything see if I can answer.

I would use Lonnie to answer and review the graphs and pictures to make sure I know the important information.

I would use Nector to see all of the connections that I made with what I read.

I would also use Iggy because she is what gave the overall information and what made the information pop out tell you what you really need to read.

Summary on How I use P2R I use the P2R strategy when I am reading books or even hearing someone tell their own story. I also use my learning styles when I read. Using the P2R and using other strategies I am able to understand what I need to know and comprehend for further projects that I need to do.
