Digital
Elements

Digital Commerce
Electronic buying and selling of goods.
These days, many people use certain sites on the Internet to buy, sell
or rent things (e.g. eBay, Amazon, airbnb, etc) and while some of these
sites are legal, others conflict with the law. Users need to know which
is which, and make responsible decisions when using the sites.
+
Digital Literacy
Process of teaching and learning about technology and the
use of technology.
Much progress has been made over the years in teaching and
learning digitally. In some cases, the learner might know more
than the teacher while using a digital application or machine. We
must accept this new way of learning, and in the future use it to
teach and to
accomplish our
own ends.
+
Digital Law
Electronic responsibility for actions and deeds.
Digital Law is the rules and the do’s + don’ts of the digital world.
What’s right, and what’s wrong. Plagiarism, downloading illegal files,
hacking, sending spam, creating viruses and stealing personal
information would be breaking the digital law.
+
Digital Health & Wellness
Physical and psychological well-being in a digital
technology world.
Eye strains, back posture problems and neck aches are just a few of
the physical ailments that occur to people who use their gadget to
much, or are just addicted to the Internet and cannot do anything else.
It’s good to get up and run around for a while! The Internet won’t go
anywhere.
+
Digital Access
Full electronic participation in society.
Users of Electronics! You must support other people who cannot afford
or are incapable of obtaining the kind of digital life you have been
living. Donate electronics that you don’t need or use anymore (but are
still working!) to the people that don’t have them and give them
access to the Digital World!
+
Digital Communication
Electronic exchange of information.
Compare the amount of digital communication that we have today to
the amount they had in the 17th century! We have progressed greatly
in that mean of communication and now have to many means of
communication that I care to count . In fact, some people overuse it
and aren’t aware of the world around them and make unreasonable
decisions whilst
using their
communication
device(s).
+
Digital Etiquette
Electronic standards of conduct or procedure.
Many people in the digital world have a problem with this element,
especially when they have to assess their own manners (etiquette)
whilst in the digital world. We must be on our “best” behavior when
we are caught up in our electronics, and not say/type anything
insulting or
anything
like that.
+
Digital Rights & Responsibilities
Those freedoms extended to everyone in a digital world.
In the Digital World, everyone has the same rights, from privacy to free
speech to posting what ever they want. But accompanying those rights
come responsibilities. Digital Citizens must be aware of their actions
while in the digital realm and their consequences, and do what they
think is right.
+
Digital Security (self-protection)
Electronic precautions to guarantee safety.
The Digital World is sort of like our own physical homes. There are
people who will break into your “home” and steal your personal
information, pictures, data, and anything else they can find. So, at
home, you’ll put up locks and alarms to keep the intruders out. In the
digital world, you’d put up virus protections, change settings so your
information is secure, have backup data and other safety measures
like that.
