OBJECTIVES
•
The Zariya Foundation intends to raise up to $10
million internationally to finance the making of a
major motion picture based on the vision and key
messages of Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of
Charity.
•
Apart from the costs of production, the film is
entirely a non-profit project and 100% of the
proceeds of the film will go to charitable institutions
or foundations that work for the poor, the sick and
abandoned or handicapped children.
•
Assurance and advisory company Ernst & Young has
been retained as auditor of the foundation and film
production company.
3
VISION AND GOALS
In sharing this story, the Zariya Foundation has three goals:
1. To remind people around the world, and particularly the youth, of Mother
Teresa’s immense contribution to humanitarian work and to continue
spreading her vision for generations to come.
2. To inspire audiences to become active by working to improve their
environment and so implement Mother Teresa’s concept of Love in Action.
3. To improve the situation of the poor and to support charitable institutions or
foundations that work for the poor, the sick and abandoned or handicapped
children.
For all intents and purposes, this project will have two effects, one immediate and
spiritual, contributing to changing people’s hearts; the other of a humanitarian
nature by contributing directly to improve the situation of the disadvantaged.

“Works of love are works of peace.”
“Do not wait for leaders; do it alone,
person to person.”
- Mother Teresa
Woven over generations through parallel
threads, this film tells the story of Mother
Teresa and Kavita: two passionate and
uncompromising women who come to
discover their calling despite great internal
struggle and doubt.

For the young Mother Teresa, her love for Jesus and
her compassion for the outcasts of society mean
everything. Following the call of God, she gives up
everything she knows to devote herself
wholeheartedly to the poor in the slums of Calcutta.
Following years of building her order – today, the
nearly 5,000-strong Missionaries of Charity – from
the ground up, Mother Teresa feels more and more
abandoned by God. Years of doubt and inner
torment pass, but she battles through; her great
faith fortifying her determination to follow God's
call to the end. In doing so, her life becomes an
inspiration to thousands who even today devote
themselves to restoring human dignity and
providing solace to the poor across the globe. 9

Meanwhile in present-day New York, Kavita, a young Indian woman battles
her own demons: the bleak emptiness of feeling unloved and in turn,
unable to love. She is torn by an unsatisfying romantic relationship, her
eager parents’ plans to wed her according to Indian tradition and an
unexpected pregnancy. Her conflicts lead her to confront her Indian roots
and her family's history on a trip to Calcutta, where she discovers Mother
Teresa’s values and convictions through charitable work with the Missionary
Sisters. Inspired by the apostle of the poor, Kavita begins to adopt Mother
Teresa's vision in her own life. On her path to self-discovery she learns to
accept herself as she is; to take responsibility for herself and to care for
others. Through her eyes, we are taken on an incredible journey to discover
Mother Teresa’s faith and courage and to see first-hand the way it inspires
Kavita to master her life.

Donate to Inspire.
It’s really as simple as that. Donations for the
making of this film have multiple impact. In
helping the film get made, the donors spread a
beautiful message that will inspire the audience
to put Love in Action while reminding the world
about Mother Teresa’s life, work and ideals.
In turn, the revenues from the film leave another
impact - all proceeds generated will go towards
supporting charitable foundations or institutions
that work for the poor, the sick and orphaned or
handicapped children.

1. Charity: As a donor, you are provided with an opportunity – the chance to
create great worldwide value. Outside of the costs of production, the film is
100% non-profit. All proceeds go directly to charitable organizations or
institutions that work to uplift the poor, sick and orphaned or handicapped
children.
2. A Noble Cause: The film aims to inspire people to understand what the real
values in life are – compassion, respect and love, not just on the surface but
within their own families and environment.
3. Tribute to a Great Woman: Helping this film be made is a wonderful way to
pay tribute to Mother Teresa and her life’s work in commemoration of the
100th anniversary of her birth.
