Anodic pre-treatment or Pre-anodizing
(automatic SEASIDE endorsement)
For high-chloride environment (near the see), against
risk of corrosion, the international Associations for Quality
of powder coating, recommends electrochemical preanodising of aluminum surface prior to coating.
The layer of aluminum oxide (thickness of 3÷8 microns,
porous surface, not sealed) represents the ideal
substrate for powder adhesion and aluminum surface
corrosion resistance.
Innovation introduced by SAT consists in performing the
pre-anodising process as a fully automatic “in-line” process
integrated along a vertical coating line, with no need of
transfer-handling and no delay between pre-anodising
and coating.
This combined anodising&coating vertical plant
results in both higher quality of the final product
(automatic seaside endorsement) and very competitive
production cost, definitely comparable with standard
pre-treatment process carried out with conventional
surface conversion (chrome or chrome-free).
Further advantage is that the treatment of aluminum
surface prior to anodising can be limited to the
elimination of impurities that could affect the
anodising process; this aim can be carried out with a
very simple degreasing/cleaning treatment
with
positive effect on the costs of the waste waters
treatment and on the environmental impact.
