Meetings in 2014
• After the EQF AG meeting of October, only one of the two planned
meetings took place: the meeting of 1st December was cancelled due to
regional Railway strikes ; next meeting on 14th January 2015
• This update concerns the meeting of 5th November 2014
• The sub-group welcomed the support proposed by the European
Commission for organising two mappings:
- the second round of the mapping of national procedures (existing or in the
making) for aligning ISQ to NQFs ; the first round took place in Summer
2013
- the mapping of concrete work already done by professional sectors for
aligning their international sectoral qualifications to EQF levels

Common definition of ISQ
During the November meeting, the sub-group made a minor
change in the common definition:
An “International Sectoral Qualification” is a certificate,
diploma, degree or title awarded by a competent body in more
than one country and recognised in more than one country for
achieved learning outcomes of relevance to a sector of
economic activity.
Next to that, the sub-group is currently looking for other examples of
international qualifications not linked to economic sectors (for example the
International Baccalaureate) and consequently not falling under this
definition.

Questionnaire for mapping national procedures
On 24th November the sub-group delivered to the Commission
the questionnaire for the second round of mapping.
Characteristics:
- Will be used by the Contractor
- Is about national procedures already in place or in the making
- The common definition is mentioned (for testing usefulness)
- Limited number of questions
- Questions are going into detail only when a national
procedure is in place or in case that ISQ are aligned to NQF
- Focus on crucial issues within the national procedure like:
learning outcomes approach, quality assurance, credits …

included/ considered to be included in the NQF of your country
(or region) by national (or regional) authorities?
5a. If yes, which ones? Who awards these qualifications?
5b. Please indicate for each ISQ the NQF level assigned to it
5c. Please indicate how the ISQ is considered in the NQF:
as a free-standing qualification
as an additional qualifications to a national qualification
as a part of a national qualification
as a part of another “international sectoral qualification”.
5d. Please attach additional relevant documentation (or web
links) on the “international sector qualifications” that are already
aligned to your NQF.
If you have information about the learning outcomes description
and quality assurance of these qualifications, please provide
these as well.
