What is Palliative Care?
 Specialized medical care for people with serious illness. Appropriate
for any age, for any diagnosis, at any stage of a serious illness, and
provided along with curative or life-prolonging treatment.
 Focused on providing patients relief from the symptoms, pain and
stress of a serious illness – whatever the diagnosis.
 Intended to improve the quality of life for the patient and the family.
 Provided by an interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, ancillary
providers and others working together to provide an extra layer of
support.
