Haryana - the agriculture scenario Haryana geographical area: 44,212 sq. kms Of which arable area is: 88% Of which area under cultivation is: 98% Created in the year 1966, Haryana has emerged as the: Second largest contributor of wheat to the national pool; Third largest contributor of rice to the national pool and, Largest exporter of Basmati Rice; Leading producer of Cotton, Mustard, etc. Leads in terms of productivity for wheat and mustard. 8 Haryana - Food Processing Industry Change of Land Use (CLU) charges for food processing units @ 50% of normal rates for units established in the ‘B’ and ‘C’ category Blocks; Wines/ liquors/ Brandy etc. made from 100% fruits and Barley produced in the State is exempt from Excise Duty in ‘B’ and ‘C’ Category Blocks. Mega Projects Kundli Manesar Palwal Expressway • 135 kilometer long access controlled 4/6 lane expressway being constructed under BOT model • Project cost Rs.2500 crore excluding cost of land • Part section of the project to be completed on priority • Various initiatives including Theme Parks/ Cities planned within the Global Corridor to be created along the KMP alignment to be developed under the PPP model Cargo Airport in NCR: • 2770 acre site identified for the project • Airport Authority of India (AAI) have completed the study of the site and given their go-ahead. • Application filed with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India for formal approval to the project. 22 KMP GLOBAL CORRIDOR PROJECTS 1.
