Commonwealth objectives
Australian Government vision is that by 2022 Australia’s
aged care system will:
 Be sustainable and affordable, long into the future
 Provide diverse and rewarding career options
 Encourage aged care businesses to invest and grow
 Offer greater choice, with control in the hands of consumers
 Support people to stay at home, and part of their communities,
for as long as possible
NSW Health is working with the Commonwealth to implement Aged Care reforms,
organising aged and community care services for older people that better meet
their changing needs
