The role of the Faculty Council (FR)
According to the rules of KTH

• Overall responsibility for discussion and approval among
the faculty at KTH

Composition of the Faculty Council
Thirteen members:
• Seven of the members should have a faculty position at
KTH (one of which is president (dean of faculty))
• Three external members who are not employed by KTH
• Students have the right to be represented by three
members
• Three representatives from the trade unions have the right
to attend and speak at Faculty Council meetings.

RN consists of a number of faculty representatives

Duties of the RN
• Preparation of all information needed for the request to the FR
(to the dean of the school)
• Potential applicants should be identified. Both women and men
should be included
• Gender profile of the subject should be documented.

Freedom of choice in curricula
From KTH’s Development Plan 2013-2016
The goal is that every Master of Science in Engineering
degree program has individual freedom of choice of 30 hp.
These 30 hp can, for example, be international tracks with
language courses or specialization.
