Vision of the exam: • An assessment system that is valid, reliable and feasible for certification of Egyptian Family Practice Fellowship Graduates to a comparable level to that of International Licensing Exams. Family medicine rotation: • First year • Second year • Third year First year: FM health centre: 5 months Internal medicine: 4 months Psychiatry: 2 months Elective: 1 month Second year: Pediatric: 4 months Dermatology: 1 month Outpatient clinic: 2 months Obstetric & gynecology: 4 months Elective: 1 month Third year: Surgery: 2 months ENT: 1 month Ophthalmology: 1 month Emergency & orthopedic: 3 months Outpatient clinic: 4 months Elective: 1 month Training: 5 trainees : 1 qualified trainer Scientific supervisor Assessment: • • • • Progression exam Workplace based assessment Applied knowledge test OSCE Progression exam • Timing: after the end of the training of the first year • One paper of MCQs one best single answer • MCQs in: public health including maternal & child health internal medicine psychiatry • Aim of this exam is early detection of student difficulties Workplace based assessment • Portfolio • Trainers’ Appraisal Report TAR • Direct Observation of Procedures DOPS Portfolio Research project (thesis): • It will be presented by the end of training as a prerequisite for the final exam. • Special emphasis on some subjects that might affect outcomes of health-care: patient safety patient satisfaction Audits referral Portfolio Logbook: • It contains: common cases common procedures critical incidents. Portfolio Audit of medical records: • each trainee will provide an audit of around ten medical records of patients he served • this audit will be conducted every FHC rotation Portfolio Documents of Continuous Professional Development: • journal clubs • Critical appraisal of two related articles per rotation in FHC. • attended workshops • training courses • conferences Portfolio • Foundation courses: Communication skills Basics of research Ethics Medecolegal aspects Health care system • Advanced Life Support • IMCI Applied knowledge test Applied knowledge test: 200 MCQs • Paper I: MCQs mostly with clinical scenario • Paper II: MCQs on ECG, X-ray, Lab report, skin rash, photo of physical sign, growth curve,….. OSCE Fourteen stations • Twelve stations: CSA: clinical skill assessment • Two stations: Procedure and/or focused clinical exam
