FSIPP FLORIDA SOCIETY OF INTERVENTIONAL PAIN PHYSICIANS A State Chapter of ASIPP AMERICAN SOCIETY OF INTERVENTIONAL PAIN PHYSICIANS Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Incorporated 2001 FSIPP MISSION STATEMENT To promote the development and practice of safe, high quality, cost-effective interventional pain management techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of pain and related disorders, and to ensure patient access to these interventions in the State of Florida. FSIPP GOALS Advocate patient access to pain management and interventional procedures Maintain a presence at state and national levels, preserving the profession of pain management Retain positions on specialty boards to support issues relating to the professional goals of the society Improve LEGAL Environment Support Fair Legislation Controlled Substance Monitoring Program Board of Medicine Rules and Regulations Provide continuing education and updates to the membership FSIPP GOALS, Continued Partner with other specialties and societies to achieve positive results for the practice and provision of pain medicine Communicate Effectively with Interventional Pain Management Practitioners Maintain and update FSIPP Website FSIPP Lobbyist to monitor the activities of the Legislature and preserve patient access and the profession of interventional pain FSIPP Newsletter, providing timely information regarding compliance, and front line issues Promote Organized Pain Medicine Recruitment, Membership Promote well developed research and continue to expand our mission in the public and political arena FSIPP Advocate patient access to pain management and interventional procedures Exemptions from pill mill laws for interventionalists MILD, Minimally Invasion Lumbar Decompression Recommendations for LCDs Representation on the Medicare Advisory Committee Mandating imaging for epidurals and facets Preserving reimbursement for Visco, Vertebroplasty, Epidurals, Facets Sacroplasty Appeal FSIPP successfully promoted taking Sacroplasty off the non-covered code list through multiple appeals at the Level of the Administrative Law Judge and the Medicare Carrier. FSIPP considers Sacroplasty an extension of Vertebroplasty and given a T code. RAC audits FSIPP successfully convinced Medicare that RAC audits of 2008 involving fluoroscopy for certain pain procedures stretched the interpretation of Medicare guidelines, leading to a ruling for the RAC from CMS, Medicare to cease and desist this audit, nationally. appealing for coverage FSIPP Maintain a presence at state and national levels, preserving the profession of pain management FSIPP holds a position and alternate position on the Medicare, Carrier Advisory Committee (CAC) determining LCD’s and reimbursement LCD preservation for Interventional Procedures FSIPP Retain positions on specialty boards to support issues relating to the professional goals of the Society A Seat on FMA’s Specialty Section and One Seat in the FMA House of Delegates PDMP FSIPP with the FAPM, FSPMR and FSA support reporting by all pharmacists and dispensing entities and allow access by physicians with security and privacy safeguards. FSIPP Provide continuing education and updates to the membership FSIPP holds an annual continuing education meeting FSIPP CMEs Workshops developed to keep pain physicians apprised of changes in clinical and business practices FSIPP’s Dinner Party Gala is unsurpassed with family, friends, sponsors and attendees invited to share achievements FSIPP Partners with other specialties and societies to achieve positive results for the practice and provision of pain medicine Networking with other Societies and Board Members has given recognition and power to achieve positive results for Practice of Interventional Pain ASIPP FAPM FSPMR FBOM FSA ISIS NASS WIP FMA FSIPP Maintains and updates FSIPP Website FSIPP maintains and is improving daily on its website with links to areas of interest and information. Through organized efforts we hope to change this strategy in pain medicine.
