God is Good
The point of attack
The Goal: To be god
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’
1. Independent spirit – Do my own thing
2. This demands that there be no moral
absolutes, thus the Bible must be discredited
for it states moral absolutes
3. The Bible Says Ge 1:31 Then God saw everything that He had made,
and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
4. The world is bad: Therefore the Bible is wrong.
5. Evolution is then required to explain existence
The Goal: To be god
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’
BUT ---If we can prove that evolution cannot
explain life, then a god is required.
He might demand worship
Absolutes go first, God is the big objection –
There is a moral standard and it cut
across all cultures- cannot be
marginalized as cultural. Most gods are
cultural, the God of the Bible is not.
Why did God give man that
“Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”?
• To give him a choice: to love God and
recognized Him as God, or to “look out for
myself” regardless of what God said.
• The “don’t eat” establishes God ultimate
authority in their world.
• Without choice, love is robotic and
worthless – it is not LOVE.
The Best of all possible worlds
• Everybody loves everybody, No one can
sin.
– Therefore, no one can make free choices,
they are all robotic or instinctive.
– no one can not love, therefore love is
valueless – thus you will feel unvalued and
worthless – NOT HAPPY
Why did God hide Himself?
• To allow for love between us and Him
– That requires choice
– Seeing God as He is would so terrify us that
we would have no choice – only fearful
obedience.
• Ro 14:11 For it is written: "As I live, says the LORD, Every knee
shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God."

2Jo 1:7 ¶ For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as
coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
Php 2:10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on
earth, and of those under the earth,
Isa 45:23 I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And
shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath.
Isa 45:22 "Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no
other.
Rev 1:12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven
golden lampstands,
13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment
down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band.
14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire;
15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many
waters;
16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two–edged sword, and
His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.
17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me,
"Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.
18 "I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the
keys of Hades and of Death.

Eze 1:28 Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of
the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.
So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.
Da 10:9 Yet I heard the sound of his words; and while I heard the sound of his words I was in a
deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.
Da 10:17 "For how can this servant of my lord talk with you, my lord? As for me, no strength
remains in me now, nor is any breath left in me."
Da 10:18 Then again, the one having the likeness of a man touched me and strengthened me.
Hab 3:16 ¶ When I heard, my body trembled; My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness
entered my bones; And I trembled in myself, That I might rest in the day of trouble. When he
comes up to the people, He will invade them with his troops
Mt 17:5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly
a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Hear Him!"
Mt 17:6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid.
Mt 28:4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
Did not repent
• Re 9:20 But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by
these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands,
that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold,
silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor
hear nor walk.
• Re 9:21 And they did not repent of their murders or their
sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
• Re 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and
they blasphemed the name of God who has power over
these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him
glory.
• Re 16:11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because
of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their
deeds.
Hitchings
• He is railing against godless Christianity: A
pagan Christianity – One without grace
and the power of God to live it.
• There is no hope without God’s grace and
love so this is a Straw Man logical fallacy
• People have always been thinkers…. and
stinkers!
