NT Budget – Housing Funding and Initiatives
 $270 million, in conjunction with the Commonwealth, for new
and upgraded housing




$195 million in capital works
$14.5 million in minor new works
$32.3 million (grants) remote
$26.8 million repairs and maintenance – urban and Government
employee housing
 Funding to DLPE to fund acceleration of land release
 Continued funding for affordable housing through Real
Housing for Growth plan
 New and upgraded housing in remote communities
 Funding to improve and upgrade urban public housing

NT Budget – Real Housing for Growth plan





$3.8 million for the head lease initiative allocated in 2013-14
Climbing to $9.9 million in 2015-16
On track to deliver 2 000 new homes over 4 years
Head lease initiative is the major strategy under the plan
Currently in negotiations for 800 dwellings across the Territory
The Plan includes:
– the home ownership loan package, HomeBuild Access;
– Affordable house and land packages in government land
releases
– continued financial support for Venture Housing company; and
– the head leasing rental initiative

 $52.94 million to upgrade and improve urban public housing
 $13.4 million for new construction
 $3.4 million to refurbish unit/flat complexes
 $12.7 million for targeted upgrades and minor new works
programs
 $22.8 million for repairs and maintenance

NT Budget – Remote Housing

$216.5 million to upgrade and improve remote public and Government
Employee housing


$139.6 million for remote Indigenous housing capital works
$44.6 million for new, upgraded and minor new works to Government
Employee housing in remote communities
$32.25 million for repairs and maintenance grants to service providers


Plus additional $17.4 million for remediation and removal of asbestos
products

Total property and tenancy management services funding of $60 million

Programs and Specialist Homelessness Services
• $5.6 million committed as NT matching for supported
accommodation and TSP under NPAH
• $7 million in joint Commonwealth and Territory funding for
Specialist Homelessness Services
