Why do you need a Card Management System (CMS)?
An enterprise which wants to introduce smart card – based applications
(e.g. secure physical access, secure PC access) needs one smart card
personalization and management system in order to avoid that
 Each smart card must be personalized in many different systems
 Each application-specific card management system shows only its
application specific aspects
 If an employee looses his or her card, the card must be revoked in
many different systems (risk of data inconsistency)
