SEVERAL PROJECTS ARE
DEVELOPED AT THE SAME TIME
I.

I. Adjustment and coating of pipes
Customer - Shell
Analysis of required pipes for Kashagan
project:
2nd phase of Kashagan project:
3 LPP= 380 km;
3 LPP + Concrete coating= 200 km
Future phases:
3LPP = 570 km;
3LPP + Concrete coating = 390km
Preliminary analysis of the project:
Profitable if output is more then 150 km per year
Having prospects – Start of new offshore projects
The work done:
Negotiations with potential partners
Presentation for Shell Development Kazakhstan

II. Grain, Cotton Terminal and Dry Cargo
Terminal
Advantages of the Project:
• Need for new logistic resources in RK on the
Caspian Sea
• Advantageous geographical location
• Existing railway and road infrastructure
• Interest of grain and cotton producers in using
of the terminal
Potential risks:
In 2009 a project of Uzen-Gorgan railway construction
was launched as a part of international transport program
“North-South” (St.Petersburg – Bander Abas). Start of
the railway functioning is planned in 2012. Capacity of
the new railway is 5 mln tonnes of grain per year.
Conclusion:
The project of Grain Terminal is profitable on conditions
of a synergy with other projects of Multifunctional
Terminal.

III. Ship repair yard on the slips
Tentative agreement was arranged for maintenance of transport resources of the
Caspian Sea and ships of partner organizations in the Kuryk Project.
Capacity: 2 vessels of 3000 tonnes
Negotiations for partners
involvement was
conducted:
DAMEN
WAGENBORG

IV. Reception and assembling of modular units
Customer – TengizChevroil “Future’s Growth Project”
Within the scope of FGP it is planned to
transport equipment as modular units
(500, 1000, 1500 tonnes) to the Caspian
Sea from Europe.
Thereupon small and large units have to
be delivered to Tengiz by a railway or
motor transport.
TENGIZ
Transportation of the units requires road
reconstruction or construction of a
temporary road.
At the moment TCO considers the option
of using of the North route that causes
significant ecological risk for TCO.
SEMURG INVEST suggests an option of
the project implementation by means of
South route with using of a moorage in the
region around Kuryk.

V. Support base for offshore operations (Block – N
and other deposits)
Kazakhstan is currently one of the top ten oil
producers worldwide.
The last 15 years showed an impressive increase of Oil
& Gas industry in Kazakhstan with the development
of Karachaganak and Tengiz Oil Fields
The discovery of Kashagan giant oil field in the late
90s and its development further boosted local
Oil&Gas industry.
OPEC statistics foresees an increase in oil output in
excess of 5% per year in the next years for Kazakhstan
leading to 3 mb/d in 2020.
Current logistics routes through overcrowded areas
of Aktau and Bautino ports do not provide efficient
and optimal transport solutions.
New logistic solutions are required.
