Student Technology Leadership Program
Mission and Goals
• The Mission of the Student Technology
Leadership Program (STLP ) is to advance the
individual capabilities of students; to motivate
all students; and to create leadership
opportunities through the use of technology.

Recruitment:
Process and Marketing
• Letters were sent home explaining the goals
and activities of STLP.
• Individual letters were sent to 4th and 5th
grade students inviting them to be leaders in
STLP.
• STLP encourages participation throughout the
year.
Diverse Membership
Shannon Johnson offers an open
membership. All student participate in
regular computer lab activities and are
encouraged to participate in our Green
School Recycling Project.
Shannon Johnson Elementary consist
of 52% free and reduced lunch
students.
Recruitment: Marketing
Students demonstrate techniques that can be achieved by using available
software. These projects were displayed in the school hallway.
Community Awareness
Our STLP students help plan our
Veteran’s Day program, produce video
for our program and help run the
equipment during the program.

1: STLP make fliers and news announcements on
important information school wide, promoting out
Fuel Up to Play 60 program, National School Lunch
week, Grow Your Own program and many more.
2:STLP meetings are an open-forum where each
student can share ideas and input. Students
participate in technology maintenance in labs and
classrooms as needed. Student also take photos for
the school yearbook.
3: Intermediate students work with primary
students helping them log into workstations and
use the Accelerated Reading Program.
4: Teachers have the opportunity to utilize
technology, such as Qumo pads, in the classrooms
giving all grade levels the ability to participate and
interact.
5: STLP heads a school wide drive to recycle used
ink cartridges through the Green School Project.
This reaches out into the community by taking
donations of these items. Money earned from this
program goes back into the school for technology
purchases.
The STLP will develop instructional activities, which integrate technology
and benefit the school and support the Kentucky Education Technology
System (KETS)

Goal 6 and Future Vision
Currently the technology students are
working on assisting with technology
needs in the building, maintenance on
equipment, school news reports via
video broadcast, health and fitness
videos, capture all activities in our
building by using video cameras and
cameras. The STLP students are also
advertising our recycling program
through Green School Project,
recycling used cell phones and ink
cartridges, in school and our
community. The students participate
in making buttons, which requires
come up with design ideas, print
designs, make buttons, stock school
store with buttons with money made
going back into our school.
Shannon Johnson will continue to add
leaders and include all members of our
school. We will continue to work on
projects that have a positive impact on
individual students, our school and
community.
