Research what you are applying to, this includes the company, position you are applying to and the long term career. There is no point securing a position you do not really want just because you feel you should. Ask somebody to read over your form before you submit it, things like spelling errors can make a good application look average. Application Process Don’t be vague in your answers, you are usually given a word count as guidance of how much you need to write. It is OK to not use it all but make sure fully answer the question. Don’t dismiss things you have done, employers are interested in applicants that are able to offer a variety of experiences and it does not all need to be obviously relevant to the role. Don’t complete applications for the sake of it, you are better applying to 5 or 6 companies that you really want to work for than 20 because you are worried about securing a role. UWE Bristol Partnership Programme BUSINESS WITH CONFIDENCE © ICAEW 2012 icaew.com An innovative collaboration • Unique initiative between UWE Bristol, ICAEW and SWAT UK to combine degree study with professional training and employment. • Aimed at ambitious school leavers seeking a professional accountancy career but – undecided between employment and a degree – or, – with aspirations to University but put off by fees BUSINESS WITH CONFIDENCE icaew.com/careers The BSc Professional Accounting • Specifically designed for students in full time employment with chartered accountancy training firms • Students work full time and attend UWE in short study blocks, with assessment points every 3 – 4 months. • After 4 years, gain BSc Professional Accounting and can apply for maximum exemptions up to ACA Professional level (12 papers) • ACA after 5 years • Optional MSC Accounting and Financial Management after 6 years BUSINESS WITH CONFIDENCE icaew.com/careers The Process • Students must have an offer letter from an ICAEW ATE in order to apply • Students make direct application to UWE outside UCAS – online application • Can apply for BSc PA alongside a full UCAS application too – effectively a 6th choice • Employers make enrolment on BSc PA a condition of their training agreement • Entry level 320 UCAS points ( or employer conditional offer if higher) or AAT3 • Students are classed as full time and eligible for student finance to cover fees.
